Fish Vase

My Chinese Fish Vase

This was another antique store find that I'm quite sure isn't really an antique. (Good thing there aren't agencies raiding antique malls to guarantee everything being sold is a certified antique?) But really I don't go to antique malls just to find antiques. I like going to antique malls because 1) I like seeing how people used to live because I love history, and 2) there's so many neat stuffs to look at.

I really liked this vase because of the symbolism. The Chinese characters on the vase say "May you have plenty every year." I also love fish in art and decorations, so this was a perfect find for me.

So... are you wondering why there's a box of Kleenex on top of the vase? This happened by accident yesterday when I had to place the box on top of the vase, on top of the toilet, in order to keep my toddler from pulling all the Kleenex out. But then I looked at it later and thought, wow, wouldn't it be neat if I could get the Kleenex to fit inside the vase and pull out so it looks like a water fountain? Never mind that the fish are already blowing out water...
